First-Ever BMW iX3 50 xDrive
BMW has announced the first-ever iX3 50 xDrive is expected to arrive in summer 2026, with additional single- and dual-motor variants planned for early 2027. BMW also notes an MSRP starting around $60,000 and an estimated range up to 400 miles (preliminary estimates).
Range and performance figures are preliminary manufacturer estimates and can vary based on configuration, conditions, and certification status.
Estimated Performance
BMW preliminary estimates highlight a responsive electric driving experience, supported by dual-motor all-wheel drive (xDrive) and instant EV torque.
Note: These figures are preliminary manufacturer estimates and should be used for comparison and planning only.
BMW Panoramic iDrive and Panoramic Vision
BMW describes the iX3 as introducing BMW Panoramic iDrive, combining multiple display and control elements into one driver-focused system. It is designed to support intuitive interaction through touch or voice, powered by the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
BMW Panoramic Vision is described as a wide, configurable display area spanning across the windshield area, with customizable widgets for information like navigation and media. BMW also highlights features such as a Free-Cut Central Display, multifunction steering wheel controls, and an available 3D Head-up Display.
BMW Heart of Joy and Driving Dynamics
BMW describes the iX3 as integrating drivetrain, braking, and energy recuperation into a single coordinated system using a central control unit referred to as BMW Heart of Joy, working alongside BMW Dynamic Performance Control software.
The goal is improved responsiveness, precision, and efficiency through millisecond-level coordination of vehicle systems.
Efficiency and 800-Volt Technology
BMW states the iX3 uses sixth-generation 800-volt drive and battery technology as part of BMW EfficientDynamics, prioritizing lower energy consumption and increased electric range.
Charging and Route Planning
BMW highlights ultra-rapid charging and intelligent route planning that can include charging stops based on preferences and other factors. BMW also notes an NACS charging port for broader charging network compatibility.
- Maximum DC fast charging power: up to 400 kW
- 10–80% charging target: as little as 21 minutes (at maximum charge rate)
- NACS charging port for expanded network compatibility
Charging time depends on charger capability, conditions, and vehicle state. Range and charging estimates are preliminary and may not yet be fully EPA certified. For EV range information standards, see fueleconomy.gov.
ConnectedDrive and Remote Software Updates
BMW states that Remote Software Updates can help keep vehicle software current and may add enhancements over time. BMW also references the ConnectedDrive Store for optional digital upgrades intended to expand features such as navigation, entertainment, and driver assistance capabilities.
My BMW App integration
